Judge rules that Samsung failed to preserve evidence in Apple patent case

A San Jose magistrate judge on Wednesday ordered the jury be told that Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. failed to prevent the destruction of some evidence in its upcoming patent trial against Apple Inc.

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.'s battle to fend off patent infringement claims from Apple Inc. got a little trickier Wednesday morning when a San Jose magistrate judge ordered that the jury in an upcoming trial would be told that the South Korea-based company failed to preserve relevant corporate emails and prevent the destruction of evidence.
