Pro bono attorneys and volunteers honored for service

Nearly 160 pro bono attorneys, board members, staff and community members gathered at Sinai Temple in Los Angeles on July 12 to honor Bet Tzedek’s volunteers at its annual “Evening of Recognition” event. California Supreme Court Justice Goodwin Liu presented the keynote address, discussing issues of social and systemic change and the power of individuals to enact societal transformation. Guests of honor at the event included Bet Tzedek’s Self-Help Conservatorship Clinic volunteers Barbara Fieldman, Adriana Maria Rayo and Michael Sigall; Jerry Forman, veteran intake volunteer; Ruth Kahn, partner at Steptoe & Johnson LLP, recognized for her pro bono work on behalf of Holocaust survivors; and the law firm of Paul Hastings LLP, honored for its contributions to Bet Tzedek’s Holocaust Survivors Justice Network and the Family Matters project.
