U.S. courts have no jurisdiction in lawsuit against Iraq, 9th Circuit panel rules

American courts have no jurisdiction to hear a U.S. oil broker's complaint against Iraq, a divided 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel held Monday in a case dating from the Saddam Hussein regime.

American courts have no jurisdiction to hear a U.S. oil broker's complaint against Iraq, a divided 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel held Monday in a case dating from the Saddam Hussein regime.


The broker claimed Hussein's agents cancelled a $6 million deal after he refused to pay them bribes. Terenkian v. Republic of Iraq, 2012 DJDAR 9726.
