How independent mediators get a piece of the pie

Although the recession affected business for independent mediators, many have come up with innovative ways to sell their work in a competitive, and shrinking, marketplace.

Jeff Kichaven, a Los Angeles-based independent mediator, has done a number of things to adapt to an increasingly competitive - and shrinking - marketplace for his work.


"It's more competitive than ever because as in any other industry, there is less commerce," Kichaven said, noting that the need to market his services has increased. "The economy is smaller."
