Coffman Specialties' general counsel aware of litigation pitfalls in construction

Staff writer Kibkabe Araya recently spoke to Angela Soldner to discuss how she puts multimillion-dollar contracts in motion and how construction law sometimes has her proceeding with caution.

As general counsel of Coffman Specialties Inc., Angela J. Soldner singlehandedly manages the legal affairs for the family-owned construction company in San Diego, which specializes in large public projects, many at transportation hubs such as Los Angeles International Airport and along Interstate 15.

Each year, the 400-employee company receives 17 projects and brings in revenue upwards of $150 million. Now at Coffman for a decade, Soldner said she's seen the value of projects rise. <...
