NASSCO launches latest ECO Class tanker

The Garden State is longer than two football fields and weighs 11,000 tons without oil. The ship's 12 massive cargo tanks take up the majority of its below-deck space.

Helen of Troy is said to be the face that launched a thousand ships.

Well, at the National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO), it takes a thousand -- or more -- workers to launch a single ship.

The latest is the Garden State, a 610-foot-long oil tanker that will be launched Saturday from the NASSCO shipyard in Barrio Logan.
