Mayor's Firing of Commission Head Shows Ulterior Motives

The reasons Mayor Richard Riordan first gave for his Feb. 5 firing of Los Angeles Police Commission President Gerald L. Chaleff will be tested today, when the newly constituted commission takes up the issue of Los Angeles Police Department Chief Bernard C. Parks' lack of cooperation with the Los Angeles district attorney in the Rampart investigation and failure to tell the truth about Rampart to the LAPD Inspector General Jeffrey Eglash.
