Violent Men Harm Animals To Punish, Control Women

On Feb. 11, 2000, a twentysomething man in San Jose climbed out of his truck on the freeway and approached a car driven by a woman who had inadvertently bumped his rear fender. When Sara McBurnett rolled down her window, the man reached in and grabbed Leo, a little white 18-pound dog, from her lap and tossed the animal into traffic. The man then fled while Leo lay dying in the street.
