State Claim-Preclusion Rules Rule, Court Says

WASHINGTON - In a second unanimous decision Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that state claim-preclusion rules, rather than similar federal rules, govern whether a party who has lost a dismissal-on-the-merits motion in the federal court of one state can pursue the same action in another state's courts. Semtek International Inc. v. Lockheed Martin Corp., 2001 Daily Journal D.A.R. 1995.
