Patent reform passes, but impact could be minor

Despite years of wrangling, attorneys say a bill passed by Congress on Thursday to revamp U.S. patent laws will have little impact on intellectual property litigation.

Despite years of wrangling, a bill passed by Congress Thursday to revamp U.S. patent laws will have little impact on intellectual property litigation.


The U.S. Senate approved the America Invents Act by a lopsided 89-9 margin after the bill's sponsors beat back several amendments that would have forced the bill to go back to the U.S. House of Representatives.
