Chevron settles underground pollution suit

Two Chevron Corp. subsidiaries agreed to pay $24.5 million to settle a pollution lawsuit over alleged failures to properly maintain and operate underground storage tanks at gas stations around the state.

Two Chevron Corp. subsidiaries agreed to pay $24.5 million to settle a pollution lawsuit over alleged failures to properly maintain and operate underground storage tanks at gas stations around the state.

The settlement marks the end to a 2 and a half year investigation by the state attorney general's office and a related 8-year lawsuit by the Sacramento County district attorney's office. Chevron USA Inc. and Chevron Station...
