HP's in-house counsel program boasts early success

In 2009, Hewlett-Packard Co. started hiring in-house attorneys directly from law school. Two years later, managers say the initiative is performing above their original expectations, and they feel nothing but pride for the new recruits.

PALO ALTO - In 2009, Hewlett-Packard Co. tried a recruiting method that was almost unheard of in corporate counsel offices: it hired in-house attorneys directly from law school.
