Motorola buy would make Google a defendant in ongoing patent cases

In agreeing to purchase Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. for $12.5 billion, Google Inc. is not just acquiring a cell phone manufacturer and a large collection of patents. It's buying a lot of ongoing litigation too.
