State supremes take up issue of notice in suits against public agencies

The state Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to decide how strictly courts should adhere to a law requiring plaintiffs to give government agencies advance notice of tort claims.

The state Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to decide how strictly courts should adhere to a law that requires plaintiffs to give government agencies advance notice of tort claims.


The issue arose in a suit against Santa Clara County alleging doctors at Valley Medical Center botched a woman's surgery.
