Neutrals Wary of Court Closures

ADR professionals and lawyers who use their services said trial delays and staff layoffs could make it harder to negotiate resolutions and to obtain discovery information to decide whether to mediate or hold off for a trial.

With many state courts expected to close civil courtrooms and dramatically reduce services, litigators and neutrals working in the alternative dispute resolution arena are bracing for harmful effects.
