WASHINGTON - California's Central District has emerged as a hotbed of bankruptcies, according to statistics released by the federal judiciary.
Filings spiked 13 percent over the 12-month period ending June 30, in stark contrast to the 2.7 percent dip nationwide. Only the Southern District of Florida, which saw a 15.1 percent jump, had a larger increase.
