Court Referee Sees Law as Means of Improving Lives

LOS ANGELES - Juvenile court Referee Steff Padilla says she's fighting to keep the children of Los Angeles alive. "Sometimes we're literally fighting for these kids' lives," Padilla said. "We're not just figuratively fighting for their futures."
