Ask a law firm to pinpoint its main office location, and you're likely to get some incarnation of the following: "We don't have a headquarters." "We're a national firm." "We're based globally." Even some small firms would rather cling to a "regional" designation than be hogtied to one city. Their goal is the same - look at us, we're everywhere our clients need us to be - but the reality is that having one lawyer in Ames, Iowa, does not a national law firm make.
