Athletes drop damages claims, will seek injunction in NCAA case

Athletes challenging the NCAA's model of not paying students for use of their names, images and likenesses in TV broadcasts announced they will not pursue individual damage claims, and will only seek injunctive relief.

Athletes challenging the NCAA's model of not paying students for use of their names, images and likenesses in television broadcasts announced they will not pursue individual damage claims, and will only proceed to trial seeking injunctive relief. The change, announced in a filing late Wednesday, means U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken will hear the case in a bench trial starting June 9, rather than having a jury decide the issue...
