High court ruling in 'Raging Bull' case could resolve circuit split

If the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling, expected before the end of June, upholds a lower courts' decision, it could bolster defense attorneys' ability to fend off infringement claims, legal observers said.

When attorneys for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. mounted their defense to a 2009 copyright infringement suit over the 1980 movie "Raging Bull," they claimed the suit was barred by a rule that blocks claims after unreasonable delays.
