Supreme Court's fee-shifting ruling has uncertain impact

Loosening the reins on attorney fee awards in patent cases, the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday took the issue away from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, where rigid rulemaking governed, and gave a freer hand to district judges.
