Beverly Hills Bar Association applauds entertainment lawyer
A wide swath of Hollywood talent, producers and attorneys turned out to honor attorney L. Lee Phillips, partner at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP and a leader in the music industry for more than 35 years, whom the Beverly Hills Bar Association's entertainment law section named the 2014 Entertainment Lawyer of the Year. The award was presented April 16 at The Beverly Hills Hotel. Manatt colleague George David Kieffer called Phillips "one of the legends in music law" at the April 16 event at The Beverly Hills Hotel, which drew roughly 400 guests. Proceeds from the event support the bar association's education and community outreach programs. Phillips focuses primarily on contract negotiations within the music industry and acts as the general legal adviser to many major musicians, recording artists, composers, record companies and publishing companies. The Entertainment Lawyer of the Year award honors leaders of the entertainment law field for their contributions to the profession. It's been presented annually by the Beverly Hills Bar Association, which claims the largest entertainment law section of any bar association in the world, since 1989. — Kylie Reynolds
