New Mission Hills library nearing construction phase

Slated to achieve LEED Gold certification, the building will include children and teen areas, study areas, a computer lab, and meeting space.

Following the recent approval of the Uptown Community Plan update, construction will begin on a new, $20.7 million library in Mission Hills.

The Mission Hills-Hillcrest Harley & Bessie Knox Branch Library will be a single-story, 14,376-square-foot structure located on Washington Street, between Front and Albatross streets.

The facility will be erected near the original Mission Hills Branch Library, which opened in 1961.
