Fighting for Power
Forum: By Alison Regan The essence of democracy is recognizing that every viewpoint is entitled to a forum. The risk in airing one's views in a public forum, however, is that a great many people will read it. Therefore, it is a good idea to take care to craft one's arguments to avoid ridicule in addition to the inevitable criticism. Unfortunately, John C. Eastman in his article "Supreme Clash of Conviction: Homosexuality and Abortion are 'Twin Relics of Barbarism'" (Forum, June 26) has been less than careful in this regard. Besides disagreeing with the substance of his opinions, I also take offense at his abuses of the English language and rules of logic.
