General liability insurance policies that cover property damage do not include damages for lost profits, loss of investment or harm to other economic interests. If the fundamental nature of the transaction giving rise to a lawsuit involving a policyholder is economic, then courts refuse to find that the insurer has a duty to defend the lawsuit based on the policy.
