Depleted campaigns may get donation exemption

Politicians who say their war chests were depleted by an indicted campaign treasurer should, in some cases, be permitted to tap donors who already gave up to the legal limit, the state's campaign finance watchdog says.

SACRAMENTO - Politicians who say their war chests were depleted by an indicted campaign treasurer should, in some cases, be permitted to tap donors who already gave up to the legal limit, the state's campaign finance watchdog recommended Monday.
