City sues Hollywood hotel over big signs

The city of Los Angeles has sued the Roosevelt Hotel LLC in Hollywood for allegedly erecting oversized advertisements without a permit.

The city of Los Angeles has sued the Roosevelt Hotel LLC in Hollywood for allegedly erecting oversized advertisements without a permit. The complaint, which also names Nevada-based advertiser In Plain Sight Media Inc., is the latest in the city's recent string of civil actions against so-called "supergraphics." A local ordinance forbids the oversized signage in all but a few areas of the city, claiming the displays create safety hazar...
