OC DA's case against Toyota set for 2012

Toyota Motor Corp.'s response to the unintended acceleration scandal, and not the particular details of an accident allegedly caused by a defect, will likely be the focus of the first bellwether trial, scheduled for early next year.

LOS ANGELES - Whether or not Toyota Motor Corp. executives tried to cover up an alleged defect that made vehicles prone to run away is likely to be the focus of the first state court trials the automaker faces. The ruling by a judge Friday would catapult broad allegations of corporate wrongdoing ahead of any individual personal injury cases.
