A 9th Circuit panel voted 2-1 late Monday to temporarily halt enforcement of Montana's law making it a criminal offense for any political party to support judicial candidates, a statute on the books since 1935.
The majority reversed a Montana district judge who refused a county Republican Party's request for such a temporary injunction.
