Bond hearings granted for detained immigrants

A federal judge in Los Angeles has ordered that a group of immigrants detained by the government for more than six months be granted bond hearings to consider their release, but the U.S. government is expected to appeal.

LOS ANGELES - A federal judge has ordered that a group of immigrants detained for more than six months be granted bond hearings to consider their release.


Under the terms of a preliminary injunction issued last week by U.S. District Judge Terry J. Hatter Jr., officials have 30 days to identify individuals detained under federal law and provide each with a hearing before an immigration judge.
