Convicted felon not eligible for new sentence under realignment law, court rules

A state appeals court ruled Thursday that a criminal defendant is not eligible for a lighter sentence because he was sent to prison before the state's realignment law went into effect last year.

A state appeals court ruled Thursday that a criminal defendant is not eligible for a lighter sentence because he was sent to prison before the state's realignment law went into effect last year.


Deandre Deshawn Lynch was convicted of possession of methamphetamine and, with a prior narcotics conviction, was sentenced to more than four years in state prison in June 2011.
