Chuck Yeager, who broke the sound barrier, loses at 9th Circuit

Yeager submitted a "sham" declaration when he filed an affidavit with the district court providing details he claimed not to recall during a deposition three months earlier, the 9th Circuit ruled.

SAN FRANCISCO - Ret. Brigadier General Charles "Chuck" E. Yeager may have broken the sound barrier in 1947, but he crashed and burned at the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.


A three-judge panel on Monday ruled an affidavit Yeager filed with the district court was a "sham" because it included extensive details he claimed not to recall during a deposition three months earlier.
