Saudi prince wins round in mansion battle against LA

State court judge rules in favor of Prince Abdul-Aziz ibn Abdul-Aziz al Saud, the third son of Saudi King Abdullah and Saudi Arabia’s deputy foreign minister, in real estate spat.

A Saudi prince may proceed with plans to build a home in the Benedict Canyon neighborhood of Los Angeles after a state court judge ruled last week that the city was applying rules not applicable to the project in what may have been an attempt to stall it.

At issue was a city code requiring some large-scale projects that could be subject to subdivision to go through a special process of discretionary review and public hearing...
