Attorney Donations Through State Bar Bottom Out

An effort to get every attorney in the state to give $100 toward legal services for the poor through their annual State Bar dues seems to have fallen flat, with only 4.4 percent of lawyers giving this year to the so-called Justice Gap Fund.

An effort to get every attorney in the state to give $100 toward legal services for the poor through annual State Bar dues seems to have fallen flat, with only 4.4 percent of lawyers giving this year to the so-called Justice Gap Fund.


Even at large firms, where lawyers draw hefty salaries, less than half give at a rate above the statewide average.


The low level of participation is frustrating...
