As the lawsuits over unintentional acceleration against Toyota Motor Corp. progress, one pending judicial decision could steer the plaintiffs' cases into a ditch or gun them in the fast lane. The question is whether nationwide plaintiffs can rely solely on California law or must look to statutes of the jurisdiction where their lawsuit was filed prior to consolidation.
