Opposition blocks new retail in Marin and Sonoma counties

The Sonoma and Marin county retail markets showed little growth in the past year, but given the tight land market in Marin and the restrictive local growth policies throughout both counties, that hardly counts as a surprise.
"It's tough to develop here," admits Tom Laugero, a retail specialist with Keegan & Coppin/Oncor International in Santa Rosa. "It's hard getting anything through."
