Judicial Appointments Force Candidates to Change Plans

SAN FRANCISCO - In a flurry of appointments to the bench late last week, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger may have spiced up some of the state's upcoming judicial races. Last Friday, just days before judicial candidates could start filing declarations of intention to run, Schwarzenegger announced he'd appointed 12 superior court judges throughout the state - some of them to seats left empty by recent retirements and thought to be up for grabs in the June 3 election.
