Judge Orders State to Provide Lawyers for Juveniles Denied Attorneys, Hearings
Web Exclusive - A federal judge Tuesday ordered the state to provide an attorney for each of 3,000 juvenile offenders who had complained they were denied lawyers and timely parole revocation hearings. Ruling in a class action, U.S. District Judge Lawrence K. Karlton in Sacramento issued a preliminary injunction ordering the state to start naming lawyers for the minors by Feb. 15.
