Man Who Falsely Claimed to Win Medal Faces Battle in Court

POMONA - While appearing at a public meeting in July, new water board member Xavier Alvarez introduced himself to a neighboring agency, proclaiming he was a retired Marine who was a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor. But Alvarez later admitted that he never received the nation's highest award granted to a member of the military and had not even served in uniform.
