$96 Million Award Tops Verdicts

      The $96 million medical-malpractice verdict that tops the 2007 list of the largest plaintiffs' verdicts pales in comparison to previous years' highest verdicts.
      It is one-third of 2006's highest award, $306.9 million, and one-fifth of 2005's highest, $465.4 million, both in patent-infringement cases.
