First quarter Calif. construction volume up 11.8%
With first quarter figures in for 2000, California's construction volume continued to escalate to a total of $12 billion, up 11.8 percent from the same period last year, according to the Construction Industry Research Board. By comparison, construction activity nationwide during the first three months of 2000 was up only 3 percent. Leading the way in California was a robust March total of $4.5 billion, up 16.1 percent from February's rain-depressed $3.9 billion.
