Court Upholds Police Liability in Child Abuse Case

By Thomas Edward Wall The cause of child abuse prevention received a major boost when the California Supreme Court unanimously refused to review or depublish the 2nd District Court of Appeal opinion Alejo v City of Alhambra 75 Cal.App.4th 1180 (1999). The Alejo court held it was a question of fact for the trier of fact to decide whether the Alhambra Police Department was negligent in its failure to investigate a child abuse report.
