Bankrupt Companies Turn to East Coast Courts

California bankruptcy courts have lost cases to more desirable venues in other parts of the nation in recent years. Judge Randall Newsome, a bankruptcy judge in California, filled in as a visiting judge in Delaware from 2001 to 2003. He says there were cases in Delaware that could have been filed in Oakland or San Francisco.
