Fiscal impact of newly eliminated bail requirement for traffic violations yet unknown

Unpaid traffic tickets has contributed to the $10 billion gap in courts' coffers from uncollected fines and fees.

The fiscal impact of the Judicial Council's unanimous vote Monday to allow defendants
to appear at trial to contest a traffic violation without first posting bail won't
