Hearing Halt Is Insufficient Reason for New Trial
SAN FRANCISCO - Two defendants charged with capital murder should not get a new trial just because the judge presiding in their case interrupted their preliminary hearing by closing his courtroom for one day to attend a Judicial Council conference, the California Supreme Court ruled Thursday.
