Panel Says Immigrant Can Be Deported for 15-Year-Old Crime

On Monday, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals made it tougher for long-settled legal immigrants who have committed an aggravated felony deep in the past to avoid deportation. The ruling reflects a decades-long trend in federal legislation that has created ever-higher hurdles for legal immigrants to stay in the U.S. if they have committed certain crimes.

      It just got tougher for West Coast legal immigrants who have committed aggravated felonies to avoid deportation.
      On Monday, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that an Ethiopian who became a lawful permanent resident more than 20 years ago can be deported because he molested a child 15 years ago.
