Air vs. Fare: Suing to Stop Metro's Fee Hikes
A suit filed Tuesday to block higher fares for Los Angeles bus riders invokes the specter of more commuters driving cars, a tactic apparently last used successfully 30 years ago. But to prevail in court, the coalition of conservation, labor and community groups suing the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority must show that higher fares will be used to fund other projects beyond operational costs.
