LETTER: Rules disenfranchise thouasands of lawyers

With sufficient education, we could save at least half of the $32 million spent on discipline. Not only would the public be better served, so would lawyers. By Edward Poll

Michael Scafiddi's comments should be taken to heart. ["Some worry State Bar map slights rural areas," June 24.] James Heiting was a good leader of the State Bar. During his tenure, he vocalized that the bar had two goals: protection of the public and benefits to members. But now no one else from his area, the Inland Empire, can be elected given the new boundaries - and that is a disenfranchisement of thousands of lawyers.
