State budget backs realignment's focus on fighting repeat offenses

The state budget, signed into law Friday, backs new prison construction and sends over $102 million to programs to fight recidivism - part of a broader criminal justice realignment strategy embraced by state leadership.

SACRAMENTO - Budget legislation signed by Gov. Jerry Brown Friday prioritizes rehabilitation of criminal offenders. But stakeholder groups say success in implementing criminal justice realignment still requires more funding.
