Legislation over attorney fees in trust accounts dies

A bill that would require lawyers to put advance fees into their trust accounts has been shelved in response to objections from the criminal defense bar. But it may come back next year.

A controversial bill that would have required lawyers to put fees collected in advance into their client trust accounts has died, but it may return next year, the State Bar announced Thursday.
